About Side By Side

We provide help to people in any part of the world who are victims of war or natural disaster, trouble, or catastrophe.

Our aim is to assist in quick response to emergencies resulting from conflict or natural disaster anywhere in the world requiring relief and assistance for individuals and communities affected.

We rely solely on public and private donations and fundraising activities. We are independent of the Government of Jersey and other charity groups in Jersey.

Our history

Jersey Side by Side formed following the Boxing Day 2004 tsunami which flooded across low-lying areas of South-East Asia, including Sri Lanka, Thailand and Indonesia. More than 230,000 people lost their lives and whole towns and communities were swept away or reduced to ruins.

As a result of that disaster major fundraising took place throughout the world. Jersey played an important part in the fundraising efforts and the Island raised and contributed over £1.7million to the appeal. To ensure the Jersey Asia Relief Fund and Relief Fund could continue such work an Incorporated Association named Jersey Side by Side was formed and it was approved and Registered in the Royal Court in April 2005.
